The Truth Of You
(or… what would happen if Chris wrote poetry to Ella, after Obsession)

by MMW

Standing on the edge of the abyss that is your heart
I contemplate the nightmare that has been your part
You offered me your poison dipped in chocolate so sweet
Your words were double-edged and their meaning incomplete
That night you dined me on hush puppies and showered me with lies
Next morning I discovered you’re the thing that I despise
The cause of all my nightmares, your façade is just a fake
You are the reason I have missed my Adam’s birthday cakes
My Sarah you took without a thought without a care
And lured me into the pit that is your deadly lair
You tried to take my friends, my brothers, my own
You tried to alter everything I have ever known
Peace has eluded me for many long dark years
And now I give you all my pain paid back to be your fears
Run and race and hide away you vile creeping thing
For when I find you I guarantee you’ll feel my bullet’s sting
And peace will reign within my heart as with my friends I ride
For peace will come as we depart the edge of your graveside.
